We love all the details and colors in this charming backyard wedding in Toronto. With lavish florals, lots of signage and the sweetest wedding cake, Mellissa and Selwyn showed us why micro weddings are such lovely affairs.
Melissa’s dress was an elegant lace gown with a plunging neckline. She wore her hair up in a high bun with some soft strands of hair framing her face. Gold and crystal jewelry, dramatic makeup and a long lacy veil completed her bridal ensemble. Melissa’s nails were a work of art with flowers and gems.
Pink balloons saying “bride” hung on the wall and her bridesmaids had made cute chalkboard signs for our photoshoot. The bride’s mother helped her with the finishing touches, then her father came in to see his daughter. We love this moment on the wedding day. He looked so proud of his daughter, who was about to become a married woman.
The ceremony was at a beautiful church with stained glass windows and high ceilings. An elaborate arch of white flowers decorated the altar where Selwyn and the priest were waiting. There were also flowers along the pews and around the church.
First to enter was the cutest ring bearer, who had a black briefcase and sign around his neck saying ring security. He was totally playing the part with black sunglasses and a serious expression. Getting children involved in the ceremony or reception is always so endearing and you can be creative with their roles, as this couple shows us.
The bridesmaids entered wearing gorgeous gold metallic dresses and carrying bouquets of white flowers. Then Melissa appeared on the arm of her father. They joined Selwyn, who was wearing a smart black and white suit and the ceremony began. It was an emotional and heartfelt sermon and the couple was beaming as they signed the marriage certificate.
After the ceremony, everyone went back to the house to prepare for the intimate backyard wedding reception.
We took the newlyweds to the park for their wedding photography session. Their portraits in wide-open spaces under large rustic trees are stunning. The path with the garden in full bloom was perfect for the bride who loves flowers. The bridal party joined in for more photos and it was a joyful and relaxed photoshoot in the sunshine.
Back at the house, the private backyard wedding reception was looking so pretty with signage, balloons, photos on display and more flowers. Guests sat under a marquee and the couple had a special table with burlap signage against a natural green backdrop.
When the couple arrived, everyone was happy to see them again and as they did their first dance and cut the cake, many photos were taken to remember the magic moments.
