Sean & Christina’s Wedding | Focus Photography at Parkview Manor
Sean and Christina had an October wedding, very close to Fall time. When I consulted with Sean and Christina about the kind of style they wanted for the photographs, they definitely wanted a timeless feel to it. They didn’t want to look back on it and cringe from how everything appeared.
It was a simple request, and one I was more than willing to take on for their wedding day.
Their wedding ceremony was held at Milal Church. Seats were individually organized and at the altar, there was a simple arch with two clothes and intricate floral arrangements tied around it. Christina mentioned that they wanted to aim for something minimalistic when it came to decorations. But they did want to integrate a lot of worship and prayer into the ceremony.
To serenade the guests, they had someone sing and play a guitar throughout the ceremony.
Sean and Christina looked so wonderful. Sean wore a bluegreen suit, and Christina had a lace wedding gown. And while they were the stars of the day, their moms looked so adorable in their traditional Korean wear! I couldn’t help but snap multiple photos of their moms, especially while they were waiting around for the guests and greeting each and every one of them.
After the ceremony itself, I had the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and newlyweds transfer to York U Glendon Campus for a very quick photoshoot. But before we started, Sean and Christina took a brief moment to give their loved ones small tokens of appreciation. I snapped a few pictures of their interactions while at the parking lot.
They all looked so cozy and cute, bundled up in coats and in sunglasses.
After that, I had the bridesmaids stand next to each other with Christina at the very center. The sunlight shone down on them from behind. This gave a bright aura, somewhat like a halo around them. Then came my favorite photo of the bride and groom.
I instructed Sean and Christina to position themselves in the middle, and asked the bridesmaids and groomsmen to walk around them in a circular motion. During post-production, I wanted it to appear as though Sean and Christina were stuck in time. So, I made sure to emphasize the blurring effect on everyone else except the couple. This was to signify how their love is capable of moving time faster and slower simultaneously!
Once Sean and Christina were more than happy with the results, we decided to meet the rest of their guests at Parkview Manor. According to their form, the majority of the decorations at the reception hall were DIYed. Nothing too extravagant, but I thought having personalized wooden chopsticks for everybody to use and keep was a really cute gesture.
As soon as the program started, everybody had their dance routines to flaunt. With the bridesmaids, they paraded Sean and Christina’s baby pictures. Everybody laughed and clapped at it. And I couldn’t help but cheer for the young couple as well! I could tell that Sean and Christina were having a blast, along with everybody else, which is the most important aspect of a wedding.
It is always nice to see how weddings pan out for the rest of the day because anybody can tell the future of a couple based on how they acted around each other and with the people around them. I have had my fair share of Reddit horror stories, but one thing is for sure… Sean and Christina are the exception.
