Jennie & Kyle’s Wedding Day | Focus Photography at Oakview Terrace Reception Centre

Now, I have had my fair share of chuangmen, but each and every one I have witnessed has never failed to trip me up and burst into laughter. Like yes, please, actually! I think what is the most enchanting and magical aspect of this tradition is how their inner child naturally comes out while completing each challenge. And as a photographer, this is what we await the most whenever we document meaningful memories of others.

My morning began early in the morning with Jennie at her home. She was busy getting ready while we waited for Kyle and his groomsmen to arrive. Her hair was already up in an updo, and her make-up artist was still glamming her up. But already, Jennie looked absolutely radiant like any bride on their wedding day.

There is just this natural glow that all these women have, and it is nothing short of unbelievable how love is able to unlock this warmth in them.

It didn’t take long before Kyle and his groomsmen arrived. Kyle stood at the very center as they leaned against their automobile wrapped in a bright and shiny bow. Each and every one of them wore such lively and hopeful smiles on their faces. And as soon as they stepped inside, all of the bridesmaids had them do everything as planned.

However, no matter the challenge, Kyle was hyperfocused, and he did everything he could without breaking a sweat. Meanwhile, I was getting exhausted from trying to capture every hilarious shot. I was going down on the ground and standing up to my tippy toes… everything so that I could get all the right angles and shots!

In the entire time that they were conquering each level left and right, it didn’t feel like it was their wedding day at all. Instead, it felt like they were having a casual hangout and having fun together. There was no pressure, and no rush.

As soon as Kyle and his groomsmen won the chuangmen, the bridesmaids handed him a string. On the other side of it, Jennie was already waiting. She was dressed in a red and golden traditional outfit that matched Kyle’s. After following where the string led him to, and upon setting his eyes on Jennie, Kyle burst into tears.

And honestly, period! We love someone who is very in touch with their emotions, and I say that as I am tearing up again over their obvious devotion for each other.

Jennie immediately embraced him and brushed away his tears with her thumbs. It seemed like she had already expected his reaction, and this gave the notion that they were very well-balanced. Jennie and Kyle are exactly what they need and want, which is exactly what a marriage needs in order for it to work.

After the chuangmen and the tea ceremony with their elders, Jennie and Kyle drove up to the Oakview Terrace Reception Centre. I was easily in awe. The venue was entirely made of wood, and each detail of the location looked so delicately man-made. It deserved another double take, honestly, which made it much more intimate.

Only their families were invited to the wedding ceremony. And as soon as Kyle walked down the aisle, he burst into another fit of tears. To hype him up, all of the guests clapped for him. And his groomsmen approached him, clapping him on the back before taking their positions next to him on the altar.

As Jennie walked in, she floated over like a dream. She looked so heavenly in her fitted wedding gown that was embedded all over with floral details. Her hair was up in an updo with a veil trailing behind her back. Kyle smiled brightly like he had just won the lottery, and he knew that he was a lucky groom and soon-to-be husband.

My favorite shot of theirs from their wedding and ceremony was of Jennie and Kyle sitting next to each other, signing their marriage license. Jennie was smiling as she wrote on the book, and Kyle was curling up next to her, leaning his head against hers. He closely resembled a clingy cat. But I thought it was so sweet, and they looked such a happy couple, and I was more than giddy that I was able to freeze all of these feelings into pictures.

To Jennie and Kyle, I hope that when you look at these pictures, you will remember your wedding day as if it were a movie reel. Thank you for doing me the honor of choosing me to be your wedding photographer.
