Daniel & Julia’s Engagement | Focus Photography at Union Station & Distillery District, Ontario, CN
“They were so easy-going.” That was my immediate thought when I spoke with Daniel and Julia. They didn’t fuss too much over the smallest details, and I was thankful that they trusted my judgment enough. But Daniel and Julia definitely had amazing teamwork.
They had a full day planned with me. The photoshoot for their engagement began at Casa Loma. Then, we were going to quickly transfer to the Union Station. And our last stop was at the Distillery District. They wanted to go for three different atmospheres at each location. Our schedule was jam-packed, but Daniel and Julia were such a delight to work with.
Not once were they embarrassed to pose in front of the camera, or around other people. They only focused on each other, and their focus did not waver at all.
At Casa Loma, Daniel and Julia wanted to opt for a more classy shoot. They dressed up in formal clothes. When I saw Julia’s stunning dress, I knew I had to do close-up shots of every detail, especially the beaded dates on the back of it. That was such a sweet touch, and I couldn’t stop myself from gushing over the two of them.
Daniel and Julia were more than ready to take on the next step of their relationship together. It seemed like they balanced each other out. Wherever we went, Daniel had suggested so many crazy poses to pull with Julia. Although Julia protested as much as she could, she never refused him!
She never let Daniel be silly and goofy alone. They always did it together. Even when we transferred to Union Station, Daniel did not mind carrying Julia and doing several bridal poses. They just laughed with each other.
But for Daniel, I thought Julia grounded him. She kept him in line, and I thought this was what made them work so well. They knew what they wanted, and this didn’t stop them from doing whatever they set their hearts and minds to.
By the time we got to the train station, there were so many people traveling and commuting. We didn’t bother to try and stop as people passed by. Daniel and Julia insisted on keeping it as authentic as possible. Them at Union Station became such a memorable photoshoot for me.
They were a lot more laidback this time. I made them experiment with their poses more, and this only brought out the best in them. And even when I rendered some photos in black and white, it did not diminish the obvious magic that they had going on with each other!
If it were any couple, they would have stressed over the chaos of being photographed in a public place, but it didn’t matter to Daniel and Julia. They only saw each other, and that was what mattered most to them. Honestly, with how everything went, it amazed me how much we were able to do that day.
Afterwards, the night ended at the Distillery District. It was beautiful. The string lights gave out such a romantic impression. Their whole shoot kind of looked like the aftermath of their wedding. Julia was wearing Daniel’s coat, and they seemed as though they were already husband and wife ready to call it a night.
It was like a story within a story… kind of like inception. And I was more than excited and ecstatic to share theirs for everybody else to see! Daniel and Julia are more than soulmates. They are each other’s number one supporter and best friend. I wish them nothing but the best with their marriage!
