Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

The theme I was going for was “romantic forest”

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

I did DIY decor for the ceremony. I used simple white lanterns and pumpkins, with white and gold leaves on all of the pews.

I am not a huge fan of flowers, so I wanted “Autumn Look” to be look throughout the whole day/night.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

The bridal bouquet was a blend of various white flowers, including roses, and calla lilies. It was wrapped in fabric from my mother’s wedding dress, and finished with photos of both of my grandmothers who have passed away.

The bridesmaids bouquets had a blend of white roses, orchids, waxflower and hints of cotton.

Groom’s boutonniere was a calla lily, and a white rose. A small guitar was added to the boutonniere in honour of the AJ’s father who passed away.

Groomsmen / family members had calla lily boutonnieres.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

My personal favourite part of the day was the bridal party entrances into the venue. We did a wrestling entrance song for every pair.

We personalized the day with our signature drink, called “The Flaming Roah” a play on our last name, while paying tribute to our favourite show (The Simpsons).

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

AJ was certain he wanted a dark green suit jacket, and wanted everything custom made. Looked great with the Autumn theme.

I figured the only day I could wear a dress this big and grand would be my wedding day, so I went for it!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met when we were about 18/19 years old and were friends before we started dating.

AJ proposed to me on February 14, 2018 (the day before our 7 year anniversary). I hate Valentine’s Day engagements, but my grandmother got engaged on February 14, so AJ wanted to keep that tradition.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Walking down the aisle with all eyes and cameras on you. It is an out of body experience.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. There will be problems on your wedding day (it is inevitable). There is nothing you can do in that moment, so roll with it and still enjoy your day!
