Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

Wedding inspiration started off with color themes – blush pink, grey/silver and white as my favorite colors.

The florals fell into place since cherry blossoms are blush pink and it’s an Asian flower. We did a traditional tea ceremony with the Chinese red dress and poured tea to the elders in the early afternoon.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

We did all the wedding décor from Elite Décor – we wanted convenient and stress free – meant no DIY at all and someone / company would be responsible for all the set up as per my vision from the prior meetings.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

We did a floral arch and petals with a runner with lots of candles for the ceremony and for the reception we opted for big W&B marquee letters at the DJ booth and a huge candle wall behind the head table. We also did a white vinyl floor with our initials on the floor.

One of our most favorite was getting the crystal lights handing down from the venue’s AV company. It made the whole vision come to life.

Our centerpieces consisted a mix of candleabras and cherry blossoms in vases, the bridal bouquets matched the color theme and were all handled by the décor company which handled everything for us. See pictures!

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We did – our favorite foods are bubble tea, Chinese egg waffles and burgers with fries so we had that catered for mid night snack – our families are Chinese so we also did a Chinese 10 course meal for the reception.

The most fun part was playing the games that involved guests and since there were prizes, the entertainment was great!

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

We both knew how we expected to look – the type of dress I always imagined myself in and Brandon always knew he would wear a black tux. We wanted simple but elegant.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met playing volleyball together – 5 years in we took a trip to Beijing, Shanghai and home which is Hong Kong. Upon arrival in HK, Brandon booked us a yacht, we had a private dinner along the harbor and he proposed.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

I think the moment we saw all the guests there for us – walking into the room with all our loved ones sitting there through the ceremony and reception was the best feeling.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

The wedding day is going to fly by – make sure you leave all the small and/or big details for someone else to handle on the day of so you can take in every moment of the day. It will be a blink of an eye and pictures and videos will be all there is to remember it forever – so make sure you get enough photographers and/or videographers to capture all the special moments.

The wedding planning can be stressful but do it your way and don’t listen to anyone else about what they want! It’s YOUR wedding!
