When a couple has a Chinese tea ceremony and a Western wedding in one day, we know it’s going to be a day full of activity wrapped up in love and laughter. John and Wendy’s was precisely that.
For the Chinese tea ceremony, Wendy wore an off-the-shoulder red dress with her hair half up and a sparkly tiara. Her mother helped her get ready and she did her own make-up. John arrived at the house with his best man and together, they conquered the Chinese traditional chinese wedding door games that the bridesmaids joyfully arranged. In the end, he was allowed into the room to see his bride. After their reunion, both sides of the couple’s family hosted the traditional and sincere tea ceremony.
This gorgeous duo is made for each other. We put the groom on a bridge and the most romantic scene unfolded as they saw each other for the first look. Both of them were quite emotional and close and it even seemed like they forget we were there for a short time. Then we headed around the area for more photos and video footage. Around the gardens, it was so beautiful and there was even a wagon wheel full of colorful blooms.
Oakville Terrace in Richmond Hill was the location for the Christian wedding in the chapel. We love the old wooden pews, large Cathedral windows and stunning views of the gardens from inside the quaint, rustic chapel.
The couple decided on a pretty color theme for the wedding day with a blend of purple, champagne and pink, which was so lovely. The wedding included a unity sand ritual. That is when the couple both have a glass of sand and pour it into an empty glass. The sand represents their lives together. Just as it would be impossible to separate the sand grains, it is also impossible to separate them from each other.
The nuptials were perfection, with the duo both speaking eloquently and lovingly about each other. Everyone was thrilled and supportive of their marriage and loved seeing them tie the knot. A loud cheer filled the chapel as they were announced man and wife and sealed the ceremony with a kiss.
After the ceremony, we had time for bridal party photos and footage in the gardens. There is so much wide-open space to explore at Oakville Terrace and the grounds are manicured to perfection. It’s quite a popular chinese wedding and event venue and looks stunning in every season. We could easily spend all afternoon shooting around there due to the endless options.
