Adam & Laura | Focus Photography at Casa Loma
I was hired to photograph Adam and Laura’s happiest day from their rehearsal dinner to their solo dance. When I arrived on October 12, I was immediately taken away by the venue itself. Adam and Laura booked the Casa Loma for both the wedding ceremony and the reception party. Everything looked so pristine that it felt to move, much less breathe without risking damage to any of the artifacts and furniture.
The entire venue looked like it came straight from the set of The Great Gatsby movie. It was so picturesque, I couldn’t help but marvel at anything within a five-meter radius. I almost had to scold myself the entire night that I had to keep taking pictures of everything and everyone, but most especially Adam and Laura.
Aside from the Casa Loma, all of the guests played their parts well. The male guests were asked to wear their crispiest black suit and tie. Whereas all the female guests went to town for their classiest and most formal dresses! But in spite of this, Adam and Laura stuck out like the It-Couple of the Century. Throughout the wedding ceremony, I wanted to be more up close with Adam and Laura when it came to taking their pictures.
As Laura walked to the sound of the violin orchestra, Adam looked at her with such love and tenderness. If you looked at the photographs closely enough, you could almost see how his tear ducts started turning redder. And when Laura smiled at him, she almost looked like her past self who first realized that she was most definitely in love with Adam.
For the both of them, it was always going to be forever. I mean, when you get married in a place like Casa Loma, it would be completely wrong to say or feel otherwise.
Once the ceremony ended, Adam and Laura walked down the aisle like a pair of celebrities being greeted with flashes and fans. Applause immediately erupted from the crowd of loved ones. The venue was packed full, so all of their cheers really felt loud in my ear. Hearing this, Adam and Laura couldn’t help but smile and wave at everybody.
I was very certain that they felt like they won the jackpot that night. Marrying your best friend was already a win in itself, but being surrounded and supported as strongly as everyone did had to be another W for Adam and Laura.
Before the dinner, at the foyer of Casa Loma, a mobile bar was already serving cocktails and drinks to the guests. While everybody waited, all of their loved ones were huddled together and mingled so closely. Whenever I went around documenting with my camera, I had to squeeze through to make sure I didn’t disturb anybody’s conversations.
It was spectacle after spectacle. When I thought the wedding was glamorous enough, their reception venue proved me wrong! The walls were littered with old paintings and mahogany bookshelves enclosed in glass. Being there, it almost felt like it was the wedding of everyone’s dreams.
Whenever I found myself turning my camera over to Adam and Laura, I always felt as though everything was so easy between the two of them. There was a picture in particular where Laura rested her elbow on Adam’s shoulder, and they looked so comfortable. I thought: anybody who was destined to experience a love like Adam and Laura’s was going to be a lucky one!
As the night closed to an end, everybody was in complete bliss. Nothing could absolutely take the moment away from Adam and Laura. They glowed and shone more than anyone that day. On a personal level, it was such an extravagant and wonderful experience, but I was sure that it was way more than Adam and Laura hoped for on their wedding day.
