learn more about focus

Like all stories, Focus Photography started with a certain someone whose passion for photography evolved into something else. Lee, our founder of Focus Photography, first felt the magic of storytelling when he started holding a video camera at the age of 14 years old. Back then, it was simply just about capturing moments with his friends and family. His journey inevitably carried him through the halls of University of Toronto, where he started shooting orientation events, school promotional videos, and ultimately learning how to tell someone’s story. That passion for storytelling ultimately led him to discover his real calling: weddings.

However, before Focus came into the picture, Lee dabbled in shaping stories from companies like SunTV and the Toronto Film Festival Company. There he learned how to capture stories, create edits from his vision, and turn those raw images into living memories. Along the way, he began to nurture a community of storytellers, photographers and videographers alike who share the same passion that he does: showcasing the beauty of life in all its messy and gleaming occasions. And what better way to capture all that during a wedding? Soon after, Focus Photography was created.

Back when technology was a little slower

Focus Photography’s values and systems were born from that passion. We built this company to disrupt an industry that had become obsessed with perfection and facades. Here in Focus, we are unapologetically client-first. Lee knows firsthand what it’s like to plan a wedding on a budget, to make every decision count, to want something extraordinary without having to pay thousands. That’s why the people in Focus Photography don’t just care about capturing your day and finishing the task. We care about making sure every couple, no matter their means, can have a team that values their story as much as they do.

The way we do things might raise some eyebrows from other studios. That’s because we do things other studios might frown upon like giving clients their RAW files without any additional cost. Others criticize us for it, saying it “dilutes the industry and makes the market uneven.” But we don’t buy that. Your memories belong to you and only you, not us. We’re not here to protect our ego, we’re here to defend your story.

In the industry, our turnaround time is faster because we understand that waiting for months to relive your day is torture. We believe in breaking that norm, with us, you’ll get your memories back sooner than you think, without sacrificing quality or care.

Aside from that, we understand that every couple is different. You’ll never hear us say “This is how it’s supposed to be.” If you want a specific style or preference that you want us to capture, Focus does everything it can to adapt to that. But we’re also not here to manufacture moments, but instead to preserve them: the laughter, the nerves, the tears, and even the chaos in between. The parts no one else notices. The parts that make your story uniquely yours.

Lee built Focus Photography to be the kind of company he would have hired for his own weddings, a team full of passionate and honest individuals who are wholeheartedly dedicated to what truly matters: you.

company philosophy

At Focus Photography, we hear it all the time: “My wedding day flew by—it felt like a blur.” And we get it. Weddings are a whirlwind of emotions, love, and celebration. But here’s something we believe deep in our hearts: if you’re putting the full weight of your relationship on your wedding day being perfect, we might not be the right fit for you.

We don’t believe in “perfect” weddings. Perfection doesn’t exist—not in the way Pinterest boards or wedding magazines promise. What does exist are the memories. The real, raw, beautifully imperfect moments that make the day yours. And that’s what we’re here to capture.

Our goal isn’t to manufacture perfection or create a rigid, flawless facade. We’re here to enhance your wedding experience, to show you the moments you didn’t even notice were happening. The way your partner looked at you when you weren’t looking. The small, stolen laugh during your vows. The hands clasped together nervously before walking down the aisle. Those moments are the ones that matter.

A wedding day filled with stress, pressure, and anxiety over everything going perfectly? That’s not what we’re about. If you’re chasing an impossible standard, we won’t be the right team for you. What matters to us is that your day is filled with joy, love, and a sense of ease. A happy, stress-free relationship will always mean more than a “perfect” wedding day.

We believe your wedding isn’t the most important day of your life—it’s one of them. It’s a milestone in a much bigger story.

That’s why we work differently. We don’t just deliver beautiful photos and videos; we deliver memories. We’re not here to impose or direct—we’re here to capture what’s already there: the love, the laughter, the emotion. And because those moments are yours, we give you the RAW files, too.

A lot of photographers would never do that. But we believe every second of your day, polished or unpolished, belongs to you. That’s why we also deliver your memories faster than most—because we know how much it means to relive your day sooner rather than later.

So, if you’re looking for someone to create a perfect fairytale wedding that doesn’t have a single flaw, we’re probably not for you. But if you want a team who will show you the magic in the real, unscripted moments of your day, we’d love to be part of your story.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not perfection that makes a wedding unforgettable—it’s the love and joy you share. And that’s what we’re here to preserve for you, forever.
