Seaweed Passing

Have the groomsmen pass pieces of thin seaweeds using their mouths! Always a crowd favorite as it usually creates perfect moments where one of the groomsmen fails to have the seaweed hold on as they pass it to their partner.

Follow and Dance!

Put on a dance music video and have them dance away in lip sync land

Finding the key inside the ice

Have a key or item hidden inside a block of ice, they should be trying to break it or melt it with the most creative way.

Sing a song using certain words

Nothing says more than sincere than a song dedication, make it tougher for him by making him use words such as “love” or even your name!

Popping some balloons

Wrap balloons around the groom’s body parts and have the groomsmen pop it using various body parts

Push up mania

Time to do some push ups, now we can do this in multiple ways. Have one groomsmen hold a seaweed in his mouth, and the groom do a push up to pick it up.  Too close?   It’s always an option to have plates of fruits or whip creamed plates for serving, no one stops doing push ups until the plates are clean.

Yoga Pose

Have photos of certain difficult poses, everyone must be able to hold the same pose for 5 seconds atleast.

Secret Recipe

Time for them to choose their recipe!  sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, the recipe is for you to choose!

Wax it off

Wax it off. Wax it off. Wax it off.  Time to make them feel your pain!

Declaration of Love

The groom must declare his love and why he loves you! Either have strangers sign it as witness, or even just listing reasons that he loves you as the last part of his test!

Finding the shoes is an essential part of a Chinese Wedding

After going through the challenges posed by the bridesmaids, the groom has one more task to complete before being able to take his wife away. He will have to find the shoes of his bride, usually hidden in the room where she’s waiting, and put them on for her. The meaning of this event is to signify that the bride, who was incomplete before the groom appears, will finally be completed when her groom arrives and puts on her shoes, and can therefore walk out of her home with the man of her dreams. Not many photographers, especially those with little experience in shooting Chinese weddings, know of this special tradition, so be sure to inform them about this prior to your day to in case they miss out!

Chinese Tea Ceremony

Tea ceremony is one of the most meaningful traditions held in a Chinese wedding. During this ceremony, the bride and groom are formally introduced to each other’s family members, and serve tea to their respective families as a sign of respect. An important culture like this should never be missed out in photos, and your photographer should make sure that every aspect of this ceremony is well documented. After drinking of the tea, the family members will usually present the couple with gifts or red packets, and these exchanges are usually captured followed by a group photo of the couple with the family member served at the time.

A Chinese wedding has a few differences compared to traditional weddings, and require a photographer with experience to understand the unique characteristics. The wedding day itself is generally longer, there will be a lot more going on, and there are important cultural traditions that pose significant meanings to the couple and their marriage. When looking for a Chinese wedding photographer in Toronto, remember to establish the fact that they know what the main elements of your wedding are, and be sure that they know how to capture those events!

Door games is one of the unique segments that can only be found in Chinese weddings. Traditionally meant to create barricades to prevent the groom from taking the bride away from her home, this section of a Chinese wedding has evolved to a session filled with fun and games, aimed to make the groom proof his love to his future wife. It usually starts with bridesmaids and family members of the bride asking for red packets before letting the groom and his groomsmen enter their vicinity, and this often involves a fun round of bargaining before the men are finally let in. What ensues is a series of games and tests that the groom has to go through, usually accompanied by his groomsmen, which will end in him finally meeting his wife for the first time on their wedding day. Door games are merry and entertaining affairs, but to truly capture the essence of this segment without having the pictures turn out messy, a photographer with adequate experience is truly required.
